October 24 marks the International Day of Climate Action observed in more than 1,000 locations around the world, including Orange County's own Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. The Sierra Club is partnering with the Orange County Interfaith Coalition for the Environment, Earth Resource Foundation, and the United Nations Association-USA, Orange County Chapter. About 500 attendees are expected.

Let's be more conscious about water by reframing our discourse. We in Southern California are living in a permanent state of water scarcity. We have to change our mindset and think of water conservation in a different way. Think of water like a paycheck: we have to live within our means, and if we do not, we are in trouble. Yes, we might get a little downpour once in a while: this is like a bonus we should save and not waste. This little bonus is not going to do much for our lifestyle so we should save it for a rainless day.

We've all witnessed water abuse: broken sprinklers flooding a sidewalk, sprinklers spraying on rainy days, hoses left running.With the state of California in its third year of drought, and with imported supplies of water in decline, cities and water agencies need your help in eliminating water waste.
