Everyone loves to receive an award, and now is the time to take a look around for that special person who volunteers tirelessly in service to the Sierra Club through conservation, outings, activism, advocacy and leadership. Let’s celebrate the good works of an outstanding outings leader, an inspiring conservationist, a member with irrepressible, contagious enthusiasm and someone who embodies the ideals of our Chapter and the Sierra Club.

2015 Political Leadership Awards: A day dedicated to honoring the greenest elected officials

The Angeles Chapter Political Action Committee presented its Political Leadership Awards for 2015 to an outstanding group of honorees at a celebration event held at Chino Hills State Park Discovery Center on Aug. 16. Proceeds from ticket sales for the event will help fund the Chapter’s political action program.

Sierra Club's opposition to San Onofre settlement is right on the mark

The San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station near San Clemente was closed about two years ago because of safety flaws in steam generators that caused a small radioactive leak. But that wasn't the end of the story. What was to be done with nuclear waste stored at the plant, and who would pay for it? Who would bear the economic loss of shutting San Onofre a decade before the end of its expected operation?

Sierra Club picks America's greenest universities: The Top 10 list

Sierra magazine, the official publication of the Sierra Club, on Aug. 11 released its ninth annual “Cool Schools” ranking of America’s greenest colleges and universities. Each of the schools ranked in the top 20 have displayed a deep and thorough commitment to protecting the environment, addressing climate issues, and encouraging environmental responsibility.
