New L.A. exhibition envisions the environment in yarn

Think about creating a version of the environment in crochet. That's the idea behind a new exhibition by Liz Flynn and Alyssa Arney, who run an organization called Threadwinners.
 
The two will debut an immersive nature-scape installation called "Reveries" from 3 to 6 p.m. July 8 inside of the Knitting Tree LA at 1031 W. Manchester Blvd, #2 in Inglewood. The show continues through Aug. 11.

Raise your voice for national monuments by July 10

The 346,000-acre San Gabriel Mountains National Monument was established by President Obama in October 2014. This action was taken at the request of the Sierra Club and many other local groups who had been working for over a decade to develop an alternative designation for the San Gabriel Mountains that would help bring in new resources to improve recreational and environmental conditions.
 

Angeles Chapter Stands with the National Monuments on June 24th

President Donald Trump recently issued an executive order that directs the Department of the Interior to review national monuments created by Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. That’s not only a brazen attack on the 111-year-old Antiquities Act under which those monuments were designated but also a barefaced betrayal of the American people.President Trump Twenty-seven of our national monuments are under attack.
