The Mid Term Elections are now behind us.  Voter participation was at an extraordinarily high level for a mid-term election.  In Orange County alone, 68% of those registered to vote cast their ballots. It appears likely that the percentage of voters will rise since there are still votes to be counted.

One of the many global phenomena climatologists deem inevitable is the rising sea level. And, in 2019, this could prove devastating to Southern California’s coastline. Due to its Mediterranean climate, the SoCal coast is prone to arid summers and damp winters. This winter, we are to expect quite literally a perfect storm of sea level rise and wetter-than-usual weather with the likely arrival of an El Nino.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the second Monday in October (this year October 8th), is now observed as a Sierra Club organization-wide holiday.  The Angeles Chapter office will be closed on Monday, October 8.  The office closure does not affect committee meetings, outings or other member activities scheduled for that day.

The holiday is to celebrate Indigenous peoples and to encourage staff to participate in local Indigenous Peoples’ Day events.
