Are you the kind of person who enjoys perusing bookshelves? Do you have an interest in Angeles Chapter archives and history? Does organizing and caring for one of the largest collections of books in the Sierra Club sound like your idea of fun? Do you want to help create library events and a community for members?
From fundraising cheerleader to quiet supporter, everyone has a skill or passion that helps our Chapter grow. And, as we look ahead to planning our programs and 2024 budget, it’s really clear that our fundraising efforts need a boost.
You are invited to join us at one of two Angeles Chapter Fundraising Workshops this October.
Phil Gaimon, who refers to himself as a retired pro-cyclist (he calls it the “worst retirement ever”), is passionate about many things including cycling, his lovely wife, his adorable dogs, cookies, and the environment.
(and how a few Angeles Chapter members will match your contributions!)
We’ve heard it said: “We are stronger together.” The Angeles Chapter boasts nearly 90,000 people in our database who have shown interest in exploring, enjoying, and protecting our local environment. That’s a lot of strength for one Chapter!
August is giving us stellar reasons to look up! We get to see two full moons at the beginning and end of the month plus the Perseids meteor shower in the middle of August. And here on Terra Firma, our fundraising efforts are illuminated by members like you who truly make a big difference!

For many years I didn’t know that I lived near so many oil wells in my dense Los Angeles neighborhood. That office building about ¼ mile from me? It’s a façade for a recently closed oil and gas extraction site. The building that looks like a synagogue? No one goes there to pray. It’s a front for another inactive oil well.
My name is Nguyen Tran, and I’m stoked to serve as your Chapter Librarian. During my spare time, I like hiking, reading, and trying new food recipes. My favorite hikes with the Sierra Club are the Griffith Park Night Conditioning Hikes and the Cucamonga Wilderness Hikes.
