Elections bring about uncertainty. We don’t know if environmental regulations will be protected or dissolved. We’re wondering if our protected lands will expand or become vulnerable to exploitation. Are the agencies and programs that conserve the environment going to be strengthened or at risk of being defunded? Are campaign promises - or threats - hyperbole or truth?

Last year, shortly after Thanksgiving, Dexter Eroen called the Sierra Club for the very first time. He had an idea to raise money for the Angeles Chapter as part of his goal to run 67.4 miles in one push across the Santa Monica Mountains Backbone Trail, an open space that inspires his love for the outdoors and desire to protect it. His passion for getting people outside and his sincere approach to this iconic trail were an immediate match with Sierra Club.

March Appeal: Our biggest annual fundraiser

Every springtime the Angeles Chapter launches a big fundraising appeal, reaching as many donors as possible. The springtime appeal is the largest fundraiser we run, keeping our core environmental work moving ahead as we’ve promised to our members we would. But, mailing thousands of letters is expensive and wasteful. As we stand by our commitment to protect the planet, we are offering alternative ways to reach even more donors - including reducing the number of letters we mail out each year.

(and how a few Angeles Chapter members will match your contributions!)

We’ve heard it said: “We are stronger together.” The Angeles Chapter boasts nearly 90,000 people in our database who have shown interest in exploring, enjoying, and protecting our local environment. That’s a lot of strength for one Chapter!
