Marc Stirdivant December 6, 1948 - July 30, 2019

Marc was married to wife Jeannie for 48 years and 11 months to the day. He was a great community leader, engaged in helping local conservation efforts. He was one of the founding members of the Glendale Crescenta Volunteers Organized in Conserving the Environment (VOICE). He later became the face of the opposition movement against a proposed housing development in Oakmont V as President and eventually Chair of the organization.

Her organized the community to oppose the proposed housing development in Oakmont V that would have scarred a big hillside area in Glendale. Through his leadership, rallies were organized where the community leaders let their elected leaders know that the development should be stopped as it would have scarred a big hillside area in Glendale. In the final Glendale City Council meeting over 1,000 members of the community appeared at the City Council meeting held at the Glendale Civic Auditorium and voiced their opposition until 4 am the next day.

Later, he would become the Executive Director of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust leading their organization in preserving this important riparian coastal habitat. He served on their board of directors and was on the Board of Directors of the Arroyos and Foothills Conservancy, the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation, and represented the City of Glendale at the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. Marc was also hired by the City of Glendale Parks and Recreation as a Senior Administrative Analyst.

He made some very important contributions to our community. We hope you can join us at the Celebration of Life to be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at La Canada Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at Oakmont Country Club.
