PASADENA 100 RALLY
The Pasadena Group mobilized to represent the Sierra Club at this rally to celebrate the collection of more than 1,100 postcards from Pasadena residents with the message: “I care about climate change and I want Pasadena to be powered by 100% carbon-free energy by 2030.” PASADENA 100 is a coalition of 21 local non-profit, non-partisan organizations.

CHEERING FROM THE ROOFTOPS!
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to take the 1st step to phase out oil drilling in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles, which has long threatened the health and wellbeing of residents. This is a HUGE victory for health, safety and cleaner air in Los Angeles!

SIERRA CLUB CONTINUES TO FIGHT DOHENY DESAL PROJECT IN OC
The Coastal Commission’s approval of a coastal development permit allows the South Coast Water District to move forward with its plans to build the Desalination plant in Dana Point intended to provide even more water to a city that already uses too much water per capita per day - 142 GPD and at what cost?

AVOID GRID BLACK OUTS WITH SWELL ENERGY’S BLACK FRIDAY OFFER
Extreme weather events, due to climate change, are increasingly straining the aging and overburdened electric grid. As high electricity demand continues to stress the grid, the need for Flex Alerts, which call for consumers to voluntarily conserve electricity to prevent blackouts, increases. NOTICE OF PROPOSED GROUP DISSOLUTION
The Angeles Chapter is planning on updating its structure, which will formally remove the Antelope Valley group as a sub-entity of the Angeles Chapter and place those members into the neighboring Santa Clarita Valley group. Members are welcome to comment at our Chapter ExCom meeting on Dec 4th at 1pm before a final vote is taken.

We need LAUSD to clean the air for our kids, address the climate crisis, and support good union jobs! Rally to urge the LAUSD Board of Education to switch to an all-electric school bus fleet by 2035. Wednesday November 15 at 2 PM.

Thanksgiving Celebration (Harwood Lodge)

Open Thanksgiving (10 a.m. Thursday to 3 p.m. Friday) available to all Sierra Club members, who may bring 2 non-member guests. Bring SC Card. The Host reserves the right to limit the number of people in the lodge to 25 persons who register (no walk-ins will be permitted). Cost: $15/per night for Sierra Club members; $20/per night for guests (limit 2 guests per member)

East Walker Ranch Hike

Easy 3 mile, 200 ft gain through wooded, riparian open space area east of Placerita Cyn Park. Meet 9 AM at East Walker Ranch parking lot. Take I-5 N to 14 Fwy N, exit Placerita Cyn Rd, go right passing main entrance to Park and continue up road to East Walker Parking lot on right 0.8 mile past Walker Ranch entrance. Bring water and snack, rain cancels.

Thursday Easy Hikes / Top of Reseda Mulholland West
Thu, Nov 17, 2022; 8:30 AM (Local Time)
Easy paced 5-mile, 500 ft gain hike along the western part of dirt Mulholland in the Santa Monica Mtns. Great views from the ridgeline both North and South, with an exploratory visit to the Vanalden Caves. Meet 8:30 AM at top of Reseda Blvd. 3600 Reseda Blvd, Tarzana. From 101 Ventura Fwy take Reseda Blvd exit, turn south and go 3 miles to Mulholland Gateway Park. Choice to park along street below the white line at beginning of fee area or pay fee and park above. Meet at trailhead at the top. Bring water, snacks, lugsoles, hat, sunscreen.
