Adam Schiff to speak at Chapter Banquet in May

U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff will be the keynote speaker at the Angeles Chapter Awards Banquet on May 6 in Pasadena. 

Schiff, who represents California's 28th District, is the top-ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, a role that has put him in the crosshairs of President Trump. In the past year, Schiff consistently has called the president out for his outrageously reckless behavior on sensitive foreign policy issues. Schiff, an influential voice on foreign policy and national security issues, also is a longtime champion of the environment and mass transit. 

At the banquet, top Chapter awards will be presented to:

Peter Doggett, who will receive the Chester Versteeg Outings award for his long-term and outstanding leadership in furthering the enjoyment and safety of the outings program.

David Haake will receive the Phil Bernays Service award for long-term and outstanding service in fields other than conservation and outings. David is chair of the West L.A. Group, has served on the Chapter’s Executive Committee and has taken the lead in improving social media and website communications for his group.

Steve Wicke will receive the Irene Charnock Office Service Award for his commitment to serving as a Chapter office volunteer. Steve also is the Chapter’s conservation chair.

Jim Fleming will receive a Lifelong Service Award, Carol Henning will receive a Political Service award, and the Banning Ranch Conservancy will receive a Special Conservation Award for its work on preserving coastal land in Orange County. 

State Sen. Ben Allen

Also State Sen. Ben Allen, who represents District 26, will receive a Special Public Policy Award for his role in advancing environmental issues in Southern California and statewide. He has worked on the state Public Lands Protection Act, which would protect public lands from mineral extraction or coastal drilling; coastal pollution prevention, by trying to phase out polystyrene and other harmful plastics that wind up in our oceans; and river and stream protections, to protect them from harmful mining.
