Your body on mercury
Ever wondered how much mercury is in your body? Now there's an easy way to find out exactly how much. The Sierra Club teamed up with Greenpeace to offer a mercury test kit that lets you trade a small lock of your hair for personal lab results. The goal is to make this the largest sampling for mercury testing ever taken. Kits cost $25 a piece. Chapter members can order their kits at http://www.sierraclub.org/mercury/get_tested/index.asp or by writing to Greenpeace at 702 H. St. NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20001 or calling 800-326-0959. Those who write away for the kit should write 'Mercury Test Kit' on the envelope and check. Personal checks accepted.

Chapter office support
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm. Volunteers at the front desk answer inquiries about conservation and political issues, membership matters, hikes, trips, publications, and meetings. They handle mail, learn to use the Sierra Club's website and Chapter database and process donations. Shift: four hours once a week. Other volunteers support Chapter work with their skills in QuickBooks Pro, Excel, Access, or Word; learn to use Sierra Club database to make activist contact lists or research member information; and process grant requests.

Be the live person on the phone: Open slots Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday.

Donation processing: afternoons preferred. Short-term project in April and May.

QuickBooks Pro: Set up the tracking of special projects. Short-term and sustaining help appreciated.

Grants: Proficiency in Excel a plus. Four hours every two weeks.

Disposal: Someone to take e-waste to recycle site. Two or three trips may be required.
