To encourage the Orange County business community to use energy (the unseen juice that makes things run) from green source, the OC Global Warming Committee initiated the 'Solar Powered Building' Award and visibility project.

Working in cooperation with local solar electric contractors and installers, this project awards solar-powered commercial buildings in Orange County with an eye catching Solar Powered insignia. It's needed because solar energized companies are seldom easily recognized or identified. We want businesses with good energy policies to have the public recognition and support they deserve.

Pictured above, our 'Solar Powered Building' Award is a colorful, peelable decal that adheres to doors or windows. The decals immediately identify the operation as part of the nation's clean, renewable energy future.

Orange Coast College design student Timothy Cormack's design won our recent 'Solar Powered Building' contest. Hearing his design had won, Timothy said, I like to add elements of symbolism to my art and so I was excited to do a logo, especially about something as essential as efficient, renewable energy. I feel strongly that if we use energy as if it were infinite our energy source should match our expectations. The sun is that energy source and it's about time we used it as efficiently as nature has been using it all along.
