COAST REDWOODS STATE NATIONAL PARKS ADVENTURE

Imagine walking through a cool, dense forest, with trees over 3000 years old and rising to heights of 360 feet or higher, with ferns, rhododendrons in bloom, and lush undergrowth in every direction. That is why we are planning a trip to Northern California's Redwood State Parks, and the Redwood National Park this June 21-27, 2009

Recognizing that there is no better way to explore and enjoy the Redwoods that walking among them, we will be doing hikes of 3-6 miles through Humboldt, Prairie Creek, Del Norte, and Jedediah Smith Redwood State Parks as well as the Tall Trees Grove of the Redwood National Park. As a change of pace, we also plan to visit several lighthouses, tour the Victorian Houses of Ferndale, tour the Pacific Lumber Company Mill at Scotia, and visit the Del Norte Museum with its exhibits of the 1964 Tsunami which destroyed much of downtown Crescent City.

In our spare time, we will be photographing the massive Roosevelt Elk Herds and wandering out on the 10 mile long, mile wide Gold Bluff Beach.

Tour cost is $1095 for Sierra Club members and $1150 for a non-member (double occupancy). This includes ground transportation, lodging, park entry fees, some meals and happy hours. Air fare to Oakland and return is not included.
