As we look back on 2013 to gauge our progress in protecting the environment, one bright spot is the progress made regarding ocean desalination. At the beginning of the year, there were 16 ocean desalination projects being considered throughout California. Many of these projects were very controversial due their potential impact on the environment, high costs and lack of public support.

The newly elected members will serve a two-year term. Voter turnout within the Chapter in 2013 was about twice as large as the prior year.
What did we do for Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Absolutely nothing. While others flooded the malls over Thanksgiving weekend, Sierra Club Angeles Chapter volunteers took the opportunity to give back to the environment at a habitat restoration event in Malibu Lagoon on Nov. 30. It also was the Chapter's way of raising awareness for #GivingTuesday, the national day of giving, on Dec.
