Sierra Club fights for Wind Production Tax Credit

The Sierra Club launched a national ad campaign in mid-June, urging Congress to reauthorize a critical incentive for domestic wind energy investments. The effort focuses on members of Congress with wind manufacturing jobs in their districts, and states that are at risk if the Wind Production Tax Credit is not renewed.

Chapter bids farewell to staffer Jennifer Robinson

Jennifer Hodgen Robinson has left the Angeles Chapter after eight years as a conservation staff member.

Robinson, who most recently was co-acting director of the Chapter with George Watland, left June 11 to relocate to the East Coast.

Supreme Court sides with environmental groups in key cross-state air pollution ruling

The U.S. Supreme Court issued its opinion on April 29 in a case considering the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Cross-State Air Pollution rule, which will protect Americans from dangerous cross-state air pollution from coal-fired power plants. The court gave a complete and resounding victory to EPA, putting back in place a protection that will reduce soot and smog pollution from power plants in 28 states, improve air quality, and reduce life-threatening respiratory illnesses that affect millions of Americans.
