Next Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 9 am to noon, marks the 38th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day, the official event for California’s statewide Coastal Cleanup and the International Coastal Cleanup movement.

With cooler temperatures on the horizon, joining a cleanup event is a great way for families, friends, community groups, and schools to come together to help clean up creeks, parks, neighborhoods, and local beaches.

Numerous cleanup events are happening across our region sponsored by our allies, such as Heal the Bay, Banning Ranch Conservancy, and Surfrider, to name a few. Join thousands of people across the state of California, uniting to keep our beaches and water clean and our marine ecosystems thriving.

Find a list of Coastal Cleanup Day events on the Coastal Commission’s website. Busy that Saturday? You can still participate in Coastal Cleanup! Clean up your neighborhood, parks, and local area anytime during September. The trash from inland areas flows downstream to the coast, so cleaning up neighborhood trash prevents marine debris.
