2006 Angeles Chapter election results

Three incumbents were reelected and four new members were elected to the Angeles Chapter Executive Committee in November's election.

Reelected to two-year terms were Virgil Shields, Donna Specht, and Jay Matchett. Also elected to two-year terms were Jan Kidwell and Dean Wallraff.

Elected to one-year terms were John Fries and Joe Young. All terms begin Jan. 1.

The Angeles Chapter Conservation Committee has recently set up a Geographic Information Systems Committee as one of its subcommittees. The purpose of the GIS Committee is to provide mapping and other GIS services to conservation entities. I am the chair.

Chapter hires conservation coordinator Jennifer Robinson joins staff

The Chapter has hired a Conservation Program Coordinator. Jennifer Robinson, 32, was hired last month to take the place of Johanna Zetterberg, who left in July. Robinson will be responsible for helping volunteers carry out the regional environmental priorities of the Chapter. Jennifer

The process of insuring good appointments to the California Coastal Commission has never been easy. This year, however, that journey had more ups and downs than a roller coaster.

In 2003 several state and regional environmental organizations, including the Sierra Club and the Orange County League of Conservation Voters, supported Debbie Cook from Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach City Council member Toni Iseman as two likely candidates for the Coastal Commission seat.
