Reinforce Your RESOLVE

  1. Make resolutions early in the New Year. You'll better harness the energy you'll need to accomplish them.
  2. You need a strong initial commitment to make a change.
  3. Establish clear, well-thought-out goals and sub-goals and a realistic plan to accomplish them.
  4. Expect snags. And develop coping strategies to deal with problems that will inevitably come up. All goals are accomplished through persistently carrying out hundreds of tiny steps (See goals and sub-goals in #3.) required to reach your objective. And with hundreds of tiny steps, there are bound to be some missteps.
  5. Keep score--and reward yourself when you win. Track your progress by monitoring your journey of the hundreds of steps you must take to reach your goal. Give yourself positive feedback when you experience success along the way.
