Save Coyote Hills! has been the motto of the Coyote Hills Task Force for the past nine years. Yes, it takes time to preserve a treasure! And that's just what Coyote Hills is- 510 acres of very rare Coastal Sage Scrub with four very threatened habitats, thirteen California species of special concern including the Coastal Cactus Wren and 200 Federally Threatened California Gnatcatchers. If you've been in the region surrounding these hills (at the border of Los Angeles and Orange Counties, in Fullerton), you've seen our black and yellow signs.

This past year was an affirmation of our mission: To permanently protect the undeveloped lands of West Coyote Hills, Fullerton, California, as a park and preserve with access for recreation and education. In May the Fullerton City Council voted 3 to 2 to deny Chevron's Pacific Coast Homes development application to build 760 units plus a commercial strip in the heart of the site.

It is unclear what options Chevron's subsidiary will be considering in the coming year. The Task Force has located funding sources to purchase the site. Whatever the challenge the Coyote Hills Task Force remains vigilant and ready to continue the effort to achieve our vision of a major park and preserve for the million plus people who reside in the region.

There is much work yet to be done. We invite you to join the Coyote Hills Task Force. You'll meet like minded people and effect change. And best of all, you'll get to see the results. Contact us or be our fan on Facebook: Save Coyote Hills.
