How does population growth affect climate change?

Two out of five pregnancies worldwide are neither planned nor sought by the women who become pregnant. Meanwhile, population pressures gobble Earth’s resources. Growing consumption goes hand in hand with growing population. If everyone on Earth lived like most Americans, our planet could sustain only 1.4 billion people, observed the Worldwatch Institute’s "State of the World" report for 2010. But Earth is now home to almost 7 billion people. What's wrong with this picture?

Get answers when you join the International Issues Committee of the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter on March 16 at Eaton Canyon Nature Center. There is no charge for this event, which includes a screening of the acclaimed film “Mother: Caring for Seven Billion,” a free lunch, a pop quiz with prizes, a panel discussion and all the popcorn you can eat! Activities begin at 11 a.m., preceded by an optional bird watching walk at 10:30 a.m.
