The City of Los Angeles waste hauling and recycling systems need an overhaul.

While the City's Dept. of Sanitation currently picks up and sorts trash at residences and small apartment buildings, LA relies on commercial waste haulers to provide such services to businesses and larger apartment buildings.  Rest assured that commercial haulers are transporting the city's trash to local landfills, but there has been scant accountability by these haulers to the City’s ambitious Zero Waste goals.

A new plan is set to come before the L.A. City Council on Wednesday, Nov. 14, in which the city would be divided into 11 zones -- each with an exclusive hauling company -- that will help the city better meet its environmental goals.  To read a recent update about this issue, click on: "New era for L.A.'s commercial waste?"

Send your message of support to the LA City Council to establish exclusive franchises for its commercial waste haulers.
