Angeles Chapter Inner City Outings received a much needed grant of $15,000 from the S. Mark Taper Foundation in December 2013. The grant will fund 28 day hikes, service project outings, or tide pooling trips for elementary and secondary school youngsters. These outings will serve approximately 625 youngsters from our poorest neighborhoods. In addition, we will be able to offer five overnight camping trips for middle and senior high school students. The camping trips will serve approximately 100 youngsters.

Inner-City Outings or ICO seeks grants and holds fundraisers that enable the entity to lead numerous outings on which urban youth, disabled individuals, and others appreciate, enjoy, and develop respect for the natural environment.

On these outings, the participants achieve goals such as completing challenging hikes that they might never undertake in their urban environment.

The S. Mark Taper Foundation, the recent generous donor to ICO is a private family foundation located in Los Angeles and dedicated to enhancing the quality of people’s lives by supporting nonprofit organizations and their work in our community. We're delighted to receive their support.

Inner City Outings welcomes any Sierra Club member who would like to volunteer to lead outings and to help with the many tasks that support the outings. To learn more about us, visit our website at  angelesico.org.
