Thanks to Carol Henning for her story, Neighbors' Plans for Expansion May Spell Trouble for Griffith Park, in the April issue.

Dear Friends:

What a great column Sandra Cattell wrote in the March Southern Sierran, titled Our Most Precious Resource. It echoes a speech I made on behalf of the Sierra Club in 1999 before a panel of the U.S.

Trade Representative. I attach the text of that speech and the Club's invitation to me to present it. I am sending a copy of Ms. Cattell's article to the upper reaches of my union and I would like to reprint it in our Local newsletter. As you may know, we work well with the Club at the national level. Please forward this message and attachments to Ms Cattell with my sincere thanks on behalf of the 1.2 million active and retired Steelworkers.

In Solidarity,
Doug Marshall
