Featured Events below highlight our Travel Adventures. We will be adding more Adventures, plus Featured Outings and Activities to this page as we begin to reopen in-person gatherings. Please note that proceeds for these Featured Events are also important fundraisers which provide vital support for the work of the Angeles Chapter.
Our schedule often includes trips to the mountains, canyonlands and jungles of Asia, Europe, and North America, as well as our most local back yards, but no matter where we are, we never forget the Sierra Club's mission: to explore, enjoy, and protect the planet. May 5 - 19, 2024Sponsored by:Angeles Chapter, Crescenta Valley GroupSee vibrant Morocco & experience the culture, nature, and sights. We will walk through the old narrow streets of Marrakech’s Medina, Ait Ben Haddou's kasbah, and drive the Thousand Kasbah road visiting a few kasbahs on our way to the Dades Gorge. Hike in the Todra Gorge if you want. and go to the Moroccan desert and meet a Berber family. Along the way, we'll go to Azrou (looking for Barbary macaques), Fez, the Roman archaeological city of Volubilis and Casablanca.

This takes the best of our previous trips and we have added a lot more sights. A visit to Bhutan is like stepping back in time. We are traveling in November which is one of the best times for photography and viewing the dramatic scenery.
See two different festivals, with traditional dance, song, and music in Bhutan; lots of Bhutanese in traditional costume and playing traditional instruments; many of Bhutan’s UNESCO nominated world heritage sites; dramatic views of the Bhutanese Himalayas and other mountain areas; learn about such Bhutanese arts as weaving, painting, sculpting, carving, and more in our visits to the Fine Arts School.

Desert cottontails, Easter ravens and bighorn sheep: Hike the ancient trails of the Cahuilla and the Kumeyaay people who came before us in this wonderland of nature's beauty.
Day hikes include the 3 - 5 mile round trip Borrego Palm Canyon trail through bighorn sheep habitat to a large palm grove. Other hikes include an interpretive trail hike to the Visitor Center, The Slot, Hellhole Canyon and other soul restorative, rejuvenating desert hikes. Spend 2 nights at our favorite Borrego Palm Canyon group tent campsite. Drinking water, flush toilets, showers, 3 picnic tables, shade ramada.

Join us for this Sun and Moon adventure with a tour of highlights of Texas. We will see the total eclipse of the sun in a smaller Texas town that is on the centerline.
Sightseeing and a little hiking in Texas will include the Dallas World Aquarium, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, along with a River Walk cruise, the Alamo, and other places in San Antonio. We plan a stop in Brazos Bend State Park where we may see alligators, deer, and lots of different birds. The tour ends in Houston where we plan to visit the Houston Space Center and may do the Houston downtown underground city tour. We also plan to sample some of the famous Texas barbeque and ice cream.Fred Dong -
