On July 15, about 22 Midweek Hikers met to climb four miles up the Pacific Crest Trail to Big Buck Camp near Mt. Gleason in the Angeles Forest, and to celebrate Joe Douglass and his 90th birthday, also attended by four Chapter octagenarians: John Depoy (82), Mort Green (86-1/2), Doug Martin (86-3/4) and Southern Courtney (82). The midweek hikers meet every Wednesday (usually at 9 am at La Canada) for a hike in the nearby mountains. These guys are a real inspiration for the rest of us. As someone once said: Every day spent hiking and climbing in the mountains will not be deducted from the rest of your life.

Joe spent his birthday riding his motorcycle up the Glendora Ridge Road. Keep on climbin’, Joe, and Wednesday hikers!
