ExComm Meets

The Angeles Chapter Executive Committee will meet Sunday, April 23 at 1pm in the Chapter office. All members are invited to attend.

Photo Competition

Publishing company looking for a color photograph for the cover of the new edition of Desert Summits Climbing & Hiking Guide. It must be a vertical hiking or climbing shot, preferably a transparency or digital photograph (8mp minimum) with a person or persons and a California or Southern Nevada desert peak pictured prominently. The picture should capture the climbing spirit and beauty of the desert. The winning photographer will receive photo credit, $200 and two copies of the final book.

Please send color inkjet copies of your photographs with your name, address and daytime phone number to: Wynne Benti, Spotted Dog Press, 2399 N. Sierra Hwy., Bishop CA 93514. Deadline to receive submissions is April 5. Submissions will not be returned. Winner will be by notified April 30.

Lower Topanga Earth Day Cleanup and Restoration

Help clean up the beautiful Topanga Creek, one of the southern-most habitats for endangered Steelhead Trout. We will also be removing graffiti from the beach underpass and planting native plants to restore the habitat.

Meet at the Topanga Ranch Motel, 18757 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, at 9am on April 22.
Bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, a good pair of shoes, and water.

'Stream to Sea' Family Fun Day

In conjunction with Earth Day and Arbor Day, Mountains Restoration Trust (MRT), the City of Calabasas and Las Virgenes Municipal Water District are sponsoring an Earth Day Celebration April 1 from 12 to 4pm, at Headwaters Corner Interpretive Center, 3815 Old Topanga Rd., Calabasas. The event is free with free parking and shuttle service from Calabasas High School.

Several organizations and special guests will join us for a day of entertainment, food, exhibits, demonstrations and presentations to gain a better understanding of watersheds and wetlands as well as local ecology.
