Full-time position at Angeles Chapter

We have an immediate opening for Chapter Coordinator. This position handles the daily administrative functions of the Chapter office, with strong emphasis on financial record keeping. The successful candidate will have at least two years experience in general office administration; proficiency with computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Access; database management experience; working knowledge of Quick Books Pro is preferable.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with competitive salary and full benefits. Please e-mail a cover letter and resume to Jack Bohlka, Senior Chapter Director: jack.bohlka-at-sierraclub.org.

The Sierra Club is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse workforce.

Green mappers wanted

The Verdugo Hills and Crescenta Valley groups are developing a green map to show the Sierra Club's vision for future land use in the Verdugo Mountains. Volunteers interested in helping to envision the right future for these mountains or who would like to help develop a Geographical Information System for the Angeles Chapter should contact Dean Wallraff at 818-679-3141 or deanraff-at-arsnova.org.

Leaders: Check your entry

Confirm that your listing and contact information are correct in the back of Schedule of Activities #298. If there is a change, contact editor David F. Eisenberg directly about it. Use the form on page 23 of the current Schedule.

Schedules for sale

The Schedule of Activities is available for sale at the following outdoor gear chain stores: Adventure 16; REI (now in Rancho Cucamonga), and Sport Chalet (including Oxnard).

Two travel stores carry it as well: Distant Lands, Pasadena; and California Map & Travel, Santa Monica. Mailing a check for $7.50 to the Chapter office is another way to purchase a single copy. See page 2 for address.

New members and the Schedule

When you receive your eight-digit member number, you may call the Chapter office for your Schedule of Activities, the quarterly listing of all outings and activities. Leave a message at 213-387-4287, ext. 200.

Office vol opportunity

Help is needed from a person proficient in Quick Books Pro and from someone who wants to do data entry (address changes and donation processing). Extra help needed in April and May for both. Call 213-387-4287, ext. 205.

ExComm meeting

The regular meeting will be held Sunday, April 24, at 1pm in the Chapter office conference room. All Chapter members are invited to attend. See page 2 for address.

Cheers for volunteers

Carl Fish, who worked Tuesday mornings for more than four years, has left his Chapter office data entry job. In addition to processing all those address changes for members, Carl kept a number of small databases current and in order for parking, donations, and publication distribution from the office. We wish him well and will miss him much.

Two former regulars pitched in over the past several months on special projects. Ute Lee managed the year-end retention and year-start setup of accounting records and files, as she has done for several years. Sophie Radowick worked on several financial statement projects, assisting Chapter Treasurer George Denny and Chapter Coordinator Linda Hoyer.
