WTC Graduation Information

Students that have completed the WTC course will be able to graduate if they have met the following requirements:

Class Sessions & Outings
In order to graduate, students are required to attend all 10 class sessions and all 4 class outings.

Experience Trips
After completion of the course, two additional experience outings must be completed to fulfill course requirements for graduation.

Both outings must be overnight backpacking trips that include substantial cross-country travel. At least one of the outings must attain a peak.

An outing that does not succeed in reaching the summit, due to weather or other safety-related reasons, may count as an experience outing provided that most of the climb was completed, and substantial off-trail terrain was encountered.

At least one of the two outings must be a scheduled Sierra Club outing. The second outing may also be a Sierra Club outing or it may be a private outing.

For private outings, there is no need to obtain prior approval as long as the outing meets the above requirements. Enter the outing information on your Student Record Card.

Application For Graduation
Send your Student Record Card (after all other requirements are completed) to the registrar for your area. Be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) if you wish to be notified that your card was received. Contact the webmaster for the address of your area's registrar.
