Water ratepayers, community leaders, and consumer groups to speak out against tunnels project;
Would raise rates but bring no new water to Los Angeles

Join FSierra Club Angeles Chapter, ood & Water Watch, LA neighborhood councils and community leaders at an action at Los Angeles City Hall against Governor Brown’s massive twin tunnels project and calling on Los Angeles City Council to protect ratepayers and oppose the Bay-Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP). The $25-$50 billion water project is an unfair TUNNEL TAX and will mean massive water rate increases for L.A. ratepayers and taxpayers, will make our water supply less reliable, and will have a devastating effect on our environment.

On Wednesday, we are standing in solidarity with a coalition of organizations around the state opposed to the Bay Delta Conservation Plan and the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) released this past week. The State and Governor Brown, are one step closer to making the BDCP a reality, which means we're one step closer to paying the BILL!

SoCal rate payers are being asked to fund a project that they will never see the benefits of in their lifetimes. This money should be invested locally, in our local water infrastructure, in replacing aging water mains, ground water clean up, water conservation rebates and education which in turn would increase local green JOBS in SoCal and thereby lowering our unemployment rate.

We need to act now and demand City Council take action to stop the tunnel tax!
