JOIN THE LARGEST CLIMATE RALLY IN LA HISTORY!

WHO: YOU and hundreds of activists and supporters from across a wide coalition of over 90 groups, led by Sierra Club, Tar Sands Action Southern California, and others.

WHY MARCH? To tell President Barack Obama it's time to lead in the fight against climate change, beginning with rejecting the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. It is time for a Renewable Energy Future - one that doesn't include dirty and dangerous fuels like Coal, Fracking, Tar Sands and Nuclear. TIME: March at 1pm, Rally till 4pm

MEET at Olvera Street - Paseo de la Plaza (near 125 Paseo De La Plz Los Angeles, CA 90012)

MARCH to Los Angeles City Hall (200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012)

*Use of public transportation is encouraged, but note light rail closures this weekend, see below  (see metro and bus schedules)

We Stand in Solidarity with Forward on Climate Washington, DC

This demonstration is in solidarity with the Washington D.C. march happening the same day organized by 350.org, Sierra Club and Hip Hop Caucus. 

 

On February 17th, thousands of Americans will head to Washington, D.C. to make "Forward on Climate" the largest climate rally in history. 

 

We encourage everyone to attend the D.C. rally (https://act.350.org/signup/presidentsday), but for those unable to make the journey you can still stand in solidarity and make history right here in Los Angeles.

Light Rail shutdown this weekend

 

Due to maintenance/safety work, the Expo light rail stations at  PICO, GRAND, and  23^rd   will be closed on Sunday.

The Blue Line will not have service between Grand and Metro/7th  

The Expo line will not have service between 23rd and Metro/7th

If you take Expo, get off at the 23rd St. station and take a shuttle bus to 7th/Metro, where you can go downstairs and get on the Red Line to Union Station. There will be signs and people to direct you to the shuttle.

If you take the Blue Line, get off at Grand and take shuttle to Metro/7th. Go downstairs and get on the Red Line.

This will add at least 20 minutes to your trip, perhaps even more.

 If you are coming with a large group, please email laclimaterally@gmail.com in advance and we will let Metro know, to make sure that shuttles are waiting for you.

Ok so what I saw in my quick spin of the area:

1.  Fletcher Brown Square ("Los Angeles Mall") at Temple and Los Angeles, enter parking on Los Angeles St., not sure of price.

2.  Union Station

3.  Classic Public Parking on Spring St., bw Alpine and Ord St., big lot, $4.00 on Sunday. About 2.5 blocks s. or e. of Olvera (I get turned around in direction there)

4. There is a another public pkg lot just southeast of Pueblo before Cesar Chavez Blvd.,enter on Spring St.
