Meetings and Programs
SMS meetings are held at 7:30 pm on the third Tuesday of each month (except December) from
November through May at the Griffith Park Ranger Station Auditorium, 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles. Newcomers are welcome.
Directions from the north: Take Golden State Fwy I-5 south. Exit at Los Feliz West. Turn right on Riverside Drive (which turns into Crystal Springs Drive). Turn right into first driveway (about 1mi from Los Feliz). Sign says Pote Field (a big baseball/soccer field). Park in the lot and walk throuh the courtyard.
Directions from the south: Take Golden State Fwy I-5 north. Exit Griffith Park. Turn right at stop sign onto Crystal Springs Drive. Turn Right into first driveway, sign reads Pote Field.
Note: The auditorium is on the left as you walk through the courtyard. It's usually pretty dark and hard to see the driveway and buildings (a flashlight is one of the Ten Essentials).

Meet every Wednesday after work at 6.00 p.m. at my house on Mt. Washington (central Los Angeles). About 30 minutes bike ride in the lush hills of Mt. Washington (with mountain views incl. Mt. Baldy), meet new ski buddies, watch sunset, then drink a beer at my place and plan upcoming weekend's mountain trip. O: Mammoth: Early season chance to brush up skills for the upcoming season. Two days of skiing Mammoth Mountain. Leader: Andy Fried. Asst. Gerry Holleman.
Jan 16-19, 2009 Fri - Mon Ski Mountaineers
TI: Mammoth: Join us for 3 days skiing in the Mammoth Lakes area. Stay in comfortable condo, ski mountain or join local ski tour. Cost includes 3 nights condo, 2 dinners, happy hour and continental breakfast. $35 cancel fee before 12/15. Entire fee non-refundable after 12/15 without suitable replacement. TI: Mt Pinos Backcountry Ski Tour: Moderately strenuous 4+ mi, 500' gain to panoramic vista. Ski from end of Mt Pinos Hwy to summit at Condor Pt. Possible side trip to Inspiration Pt.
