Sun, Oct 9 East Cyn Scramble 9AM

Moderate 6 mi, 1400' gain adventure hike through lush vegetation in Santa Clarita Woodlands, ½ on fire road, ½ off trail. Meet 9 am entrance to Ed Davis/Towsley Cyn State Park (I-5 to Calgrove, W to The Old Rd, S to park entrance). Bring water, lunch, long pants, lugsoles.

Wed, Oct 19 Mission Peak Moonlight Conditioning Hike 7PM

Moderate 5 mi, 1200’ gain to view San Fernando Valley. Meet 7 PM at trail head (Take 405 Fwy to Balboa, N 2 mi to Sesnon, W 1 mi to Neon Way, R to end of street). Bring water, lug soles, and flashlight. Rain cancels.

Sun, Oct 23 Towsley Pk To Mentryville Trek 9AM

Strenuous 10 mi hike with car shuttle. Initial 1500' climb affords panoramic view of Santa Clarita Woodlands and Santa Clarita Valley. Hike follows ridge before dropping into Pico Cyn and historic Mentryville. Meet 9 am entrance to Ed Davis/Towsley Cyn State Park (I-5 to Calgrove, W to The Old Rd, S to park entrance). Bring at least 2 liters water, lunch, lugsoles, fsp. Rain cancels.

Moderate to strenuous 5 mi, 2000' gain hike to Mt Williamson and Pleasant View Ridge with superb view of mountain and desert in proposed Pleasant View Wilderness. Trek through riparian community with year round stream, then over grassy savanna hills to overview the beautiful woodland area before returning down another riparian canyon. Join the annual calorie burner up the Los Pinetos Trail. Moderate 6 mi, 1400' gain to ridge between San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys. Tree shaded hike with outstanding views. Meet 12 noon Walker Ranch entrance of Placerita Cyn Park (take 14 Fwy [Antelope Valley Fwy], exit Placerita Cyn Rd, S to park, continue 1 ¾ mi past main entrance to gated entrance at Walker Ranch; do not block gate).
