Thoroughbred Trail Hike

To the best of our knowledge, these directions are accurate at the time of printing, but conditions do change and you may be hiking faster or slower than the 2.5 to 3 mph that we used. Any person using this guide is responsible for his or her own safety and assumes all risks and full responsibility for any and all damages or injury which may result from the use of this route. This hike is approximately 3.5 miles long with about a 500 ft gain.

We will start from the east side of Crenshaw Blvd. where Silver Spur intersects. Head down Crenshaw Blvd. 100 yds to the blue sign. Turn right and ascend the trail to the water tank. As you reach the tank make a left out the driveway to the road. Turn right on the road and after 100 yds make a left on Eastvale Rd. After another 100 yds take the dirt trail on the right (Thoroughbred) that descends among stables.

In ten minutes jog left 50 yds, cross the paved road, and continue down the hill on Morgan Trail. At the trail intersection for Pinto trail, stay right. In a couple minutes cross another paved road, continue straight into the driveway, and proceed straight, taking the dirt trail down the hill. A few yards from the bottom of the hill make a left on a small trail that crosses the gully. Head left down the trail, staying with the main trail until it exits onto a paved road. Continue along the road in the same direction for about a quarter mile. Turn right at the crossing onto the dirt (Lower Si's) trail, which is lined with blackberries and poison oak.

After ten minutes turn right onto Cliff Hix trail. In five minutes the trail exits onto a dirt easement. Make a left, uphill, then right before the gate toward the horse ring. There is sometimes water available here, but it is not reliable. Skirt the ring on the right. At the far side take the short trail down to a main horse trail. Make a left and climb the hill on the main trail. Seven minutes brings you to a Y trail intersection. Stay right and ascend the steep hill to a paved road. Turn right. STAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR YOUR SAFETY!

After four minutes turn left onto Morgan Lane. As Morgan Lane bends to the right, veer left onto the woodchip trail. Ignore the two opportunities to turn right on easements and descend a hill back to Crenshaw Blvd. at Silver Spur.
