SIERRA CLUB HOLDS "BACK BAY CONCERT" FUNDRAISER ON AUGUST 6Fundraising Event Will Benefit Conservation Efforts in Northern Orange County |

NEWPORT BEACH - On Sunday, August 6th, Orange County residents will enjoy an evening of cool jazz, wine tasting and vegetarian appetizers at the second annual "Back Bay Concert," a unique fundraiser and environmental education event. Sponsored by the Sierra Club Orange County Group in conjunction with local vegetarian restaurants and natural foods markets, the Back Bay Concert will feature The Ron Kobayashi Duo. "This event will benefit Sierra Club Orange County Group's conservation efforts to preserve open space in Northern Orange County," says Jay Matchett, chair of the Sierra Club Orange County Group. "By providing vegan, vegetarian and organic appetizers, we raise awareness of environmental issues and promote conservation efforts. Volunteers from Orange County environmental task forces will be on hand to inform participants about local conservation efforts." Chuck Buck, Orange County resident and musician adds, "The backdrop of the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center brings awareness of the environment and promotes the value of protecting local open space." Environmental advocate and internationally-renowned musician, Ron Kobayashi, will headline the event on piano along with recording artist, Steve Hommel, on saxophone. The Sierra Club is a 501(c)(4) organization whose mission is to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth. A portion of the proceeds will support the Orange Hills Task Force. Sponsoring businesses include: Avanti Café, Mother's Market & Kitchen, Naked Vegan, Sidney's Café, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods.
