SIERRA CLUB ENDORSES
BLOOM, FEINSTEIN
AND GENSER FOR SANTA
MONICA CITY COUNCIL
Santa Monica, Calif., October 25, 2004. The Sierra
Club has endorsed Mayor Richard Bloom and city council members Michael
Feinstein and Ken Genser for re-election to the Santa Monica City Council.
"We endorsed these three
incumbents because they have a proven voting record, on the city council, of
support for the environment. They have voted for expansion of
current city parks, as well as to acquire new park land,” stated Sabine
Schlosser, a member of the Sierra Club's Angeles Chapter and a Santa
Monica resident.
Kathy Knight, Chair of the
Sierra Club's Airport Marina group and also a Santa Monica resident, added:
"We are pleased with the candidates’ long-time support for preserving the
Ballona wetlands ecosystem which drains into and helps sustain Santa Monica
Bay. The wetlands also provide much-needed open space in the densely
populated westside coastal corridor that includes Santa Monica."
The Sierra Club, a national organization
with more than 700,000 members, is
committed to leaving our children a living legacy of clean air, clean water,
and natural grandeur. The club’s
Angeles Chapter, representing Los Angeles and Orange counties, includes more
than 56,000 members. Information on the
chapter is available at
