In the interests of facilitating the logistics of some outings, it is customary
that participants make carpooling arrangements. The Sierra Club does not have insurance for carpooling
arrangements and assumes no liability for them. Carpooling, ride sharing or anything similar is strictly
a private arrangement among the participants. Participants assume the risks associated with this travel.

Monthly Meeting
"Hiking in the Pyrenees: Adventures on the French-Spanish Border,"
presented by Jim and Ginny Heringer, Pam Allen and Terry Ginsberg who participated in an outdoor
walking tour in several national parks in the area in summer, 2007.
Information is available on the group's hikes, outings,
and conservation activities. Newcomers are always welcome. Social hour begins at 7:00 pm,
program starts at 7:30 pm. Eaton Canyon Nature Center,

Mt. Baden-Powell (9399")
Hike the 41-switchback trail and enjoy views of the high country and the Mojave Desert
from the second highest mountain in the San Gabriels, 8 mile rt, 2800' gain. Meet at 8:00 am
in the parking lot of REI's Arcadia store (214 N. Santa Anita) or at Vincent Gap trailhead at
9:00 am. Bring water, lunch, hiking boots, jacket. |

Eaton Saddle to Red Box via West Fork San Gabriel River
Moderate 7 mile, 1200' loss/1000' gain hike through mature forest habitat on north side of Mt.
Wilson. We'll observe sites of Great Hiking Era resorts and learn about their recreational impact on
the forest. Adventurous newcomers welcome. Meet 8:30 am La Caņada ride share point. Bring water,
lunch, lugsoles. |

Eaton Canyon Work Day
You've been there for meetings and hikes, now here's a chance to help the Nature Center
with a morning of trail or garden maintenance. Meet at 9:00 am at the flagpole in front of
the Eaton Canyon Nature Center, 1750 N. Altadena Drive, Pasadena. Bring hat and water. Work
gloves and tools will be provided or bring your own if you prefer. Bring a brown-bag lunch
if you'd like to stay for lunch; cold drinks will be provided. Rain cancels.

Inspiration Point (4510') from Lake Avenue
Moderately paced 11 mile, 2400' gain hike. Meet 8:00 am north end of Lake Ave. in Altadena.
Arrive early --parking is limited and you may have to walk a distance from your car. Bring lunch,
2 qts water, appropriate clothing layers, hiking boots. Rain cancels. |

Chilao to Horse Flats and Mt. Hillyer
A moderately paced 6 mile rt, 1100' gain hike in the gently rolling hills and lumpy boulders
of bandido country. Suitable for conditioned beginners. May have opportunity to visit Chilao Visitors
Center if it is open. Meet La Caņada rideshare point, 9:00 am with 2 qts water, lunch, hiking boots. |
