Palos Verdes South Bay

Palos Verdes South Bay

We are the Palos Verdes-South Bay Group with the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club. Our group includes those members residing in Carson, Gardena, Harbor City, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes Peninsula, San Pedro, Torrance and Wilmington.

Oct 28 Wed O: Quarterly Meeting. Join us 7-9 PM as we welcome Dr. Randy Harwood and his photographic journey to many of Africa's best countries for tourism and wildlife appreciation including Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa, Madagascar and Mozambique. "Birding in Africa" will include many of Africa's signature animals, highlighting primarily the amazing birds found there. Hopefully it will inspire arm-chair travelers as well as anyone contemplating a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip to consider Africa as a destination, which in turn supports conservation efforts there. The meeting will be in the Community Room of the Palos Verdes Library, 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates (entrance also on Deep Valley Dr). Refreshments served.

Harwood Lodge

Harwood Lodge

Harwood Lodge was built in 1930 as a memorial to Aurelia S. Harwood, past president of the Sierra Club and Angeles Chapter leader. The lodge stands today as a place to get away from the city and enjoy the solitude of clear mountain air and blue skies.
