Sierra Club Outings
Orange County Group
Print a checklist of items to take on your next
camping trip. Take a Hike...at Crystal Cove by Ron Schrantz and Jay Matchett
As the summer approaches we look forward to those lazy days of
summer and the endless miles of beach in Orange County. From north to south, the county
has outstanding beaches and wetlandsBolsa Chica to San Clemente and the Dana Point
headlands, hiking and outdoor activities abound.
In the middle of our countys magnificent coastline is Crystal Cove State Beach,
just a few miles north of Laguna Beach. This local state park is split by Pacific Coast
Highway with beach and tidepool walks on one side and hillside rambles on the other.
Because of its beautiful location, Crystal Cove almost became a luxury seaside resort; the Dept. of Parks & Recreation abandoned this plan after the Sierra Club and other local organizations rallied public opposition.
To get the big picture or just check out the tidepools, join us for series of scheduled
walks. For more info, call leaders Jay Matchett 714-730-7730; Bob Siebert 714-997-0190.
