2010 Candidate Dave Kuhn

My name is "Mountain Dave" Kuhn. Thank you for considering my service to the OMC.

I've been a member of Sierra Club (SC) since the 1980s and an active member of OCSS since 2006. I currently lead over 60 hiking, backpacking, & skiing events per year with SC and am a provisional I leader.

My hiking and backpacking experience began over 30 years ago in cub & boy scouts where I became an Eagle Scout. Educational experience includes an A.S. in Geography, B.S. in Forestry and Natural Resources, and an M.S. in Environmental Management from California Universities and I've studied overseas at Oxford University, England and Lincoln University, New Zealand. My professional experience encompasses forest genetics diversity research for the USDA-Forest Service at the Institute of Forest Genetics in Placerville, CA, environmental compliance management for the Department of Defense, energy efficiency consulting for Sempra Energy and Southern California Edison, and President of a Commercial Real Estate Brokerage.

My goal as a SC leader is getting people outdoors to show them fun, safe, and low cost activities to help them recognize the beauty around them. This awareness and use of Leave No Trace gives SC a greater voice to protect open space and recreational opportunities for everyone.
