JUN 24 TUE IRVINE CONDITIONING HIKE & POTLUCK
O: OCSS: Newcomers welcome. Great opportunity to join the Sierra Club. Monthly last Tuesday of the month potluck immediately following the hikes. Small donation for utensils, drinks, burgers, hot dogs. Meet 8 pm at the picnic area of Turtle Rock Community Park. 405 Fwy, exit S at University/Jeffrey, L on Ridgeline, L on Turtle Rock, pass Sunnyhill, L into parking lot. O: Easy-paced hike through rolling hills. 6 mi RT, 600' gain. Great for well-conditioned beginners. Meet 8:30 am. (From 5 Fwy, N on Jamboree, or from 55 Fwy, E on Chapman, S on Jamboree. Take Canyon View into parking area. If park is closed, meet in Taco Bell parking lot, corner Chapman/Jamboree.) Bring water, lugsoles, $3 for parking or have permit. Newcomers welcome! O: Easy pace 3 mile round trip hike through the Back Bay. Newcomers, beginners, families welcome. Identify flora and fauna and visit the Interpretive Center after the hike. Meet 8:30 am in front of the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center, 2301 University Drive, Newport Beach. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, wear comfortable shoes, no sandals. Expect a 3-hour walk. Meet at 8 am Warner Ave parking lot (East corner of PCH and Warner next to trailer) Bring camera, water, sun protection and comfortable shoes. Rain cancels. O: Easy paced 6 mi rt to enjoy nature, bird watch, learn about a variety of habitats, review some local history, enjoy some good food at the Back Bay Cafe and have a good time. Reasonably flat terrain with stops for photo shoots. Meet at East Bluff Drive and the top of Back Bay Drive off of Jamboree at 8:45 AM. Bring binoculars, camera, $ for lunch, water and sun protection. Lug sole shoes suggested.
