Orange Hills

Our long-term goals are to preserve north-south wildlife corridors across the Irvine         Open Space while preserving water-quality in Irvine Lake and area creeks.  Reduce devastating community impacts from unnecessarily long perimeters around poorly planned development.  Promote energy-efficiency and housing affordability/balance in areas that are developed. (Land is currently wild open space-- coastal sage, riparian, and wetland area-- owned by the Irvine Company and slated for development in their Santiago Hills plan, within Orange City 'sphere of influence' under 1989 East Orange General Plan.)
STORY: The Irvine Company gave us a wonderful gift of open space, but now they want to ruin it by placing wasteful sprawl communities right in the middle of it, near Irvine Lake .  The result will be increased traffic and gridlock on our roads, increased pollution of our local air and waterways, increased noise and light pollution, loss of scenic hill views, critical loss of wildlife, and higher tax burdens to subsidize their sprawl and infrastructure.  The Sierra Club will fight to protect quality of life for local homeowners and residents.  With your help, we can preserve the Orange Hills for our families, for our future!

OUR SLOGAN: Don't kill our hills!
