The OCGWC was formed in mid-2008 in response to a Sierra Club shift of its emphasis to Global Warming. Our Committee works under the general direction of the Chapter Global Warming Energy Committee chaired by Jim Stewart and Darrell Clarke. The OCGWC is divided in two sections; the north/central or Orange County Group territory and the south county or Sierra Sage Group territory.
Our main objective in 2009 is to support and sustain “Juicing Orange County”, which is an initiative to get all the cities in Orange County to implement green measures necessary to comply with AB 32. This monumental legislation sets the basic goal of reducing green house gases emitted in the state by 20% by 2020.
Members of the Committee are committed to support the efforts of other associations, lawmakers, and the Federal Government to promote global warming awareness and action to reduce carbon emssions. Please join us in the Committee by e-mailing the two Co-Chairs listed at the bottom of the left column .
