These are moments when our natural instinct is to reach out and offer help.  But how can we offer a helping hand while still being mindful of stay at home policies and social distancing?

Here are a few ideas to inspire you. We also welcome your suggestions for more ways to help.

  • Phone a friend you haven’t talked to in a while or connect virtually

  • Folks are isolated from one another.  Reach out just to say hello, how are you?

  • Going to the grocery store? Ask a more senior member of your community if you can do some shopping for them.

  • Offer to help deliver meals to the most vulnerable:  Meals on Wheels

  • Help out at a food bank:  CA Food Banks

  • Can you sew?  Medical facilities need masks.  Sew Homemade Masks

  • Urge your local city council to pass moratoriums on evictions, foreclosures, rent increases.

  • Volunteer or donate to a group serving underserved communities: Covid-19 Response

  • Give blood: Red Cross Blood Drive

  • Here is a site with more ideas: California Volunteers Covid-19
