Critical Mass depicts the plight of monarch butterflies through dance

In the past 20 years, the population of monarch butterflies has decreased by 90%. Herbicides like Monsanto's Roundup and genetically manipulated Roundup Ready crops have destroyed the milkweed plants monarchs rely on to eat and lay their eggs.

The key to helping the monarchs is to get them protected under the Endangered Species Act.

Sign the Sierra Club petition to protect monarch butterflies for all time. With so many threats and a shocking level of population decline over the past two decades, it's clear these beautiful creatures need additional help and protection.

Come to a June 13 or 14 presentation of Ama Terra by the Critical Mass Dance Company. The dance tells the story of other Earth as a young girl who lives in a forest where millions of monarch butterflies migrate to every winter. One day, an illegal logging effort threatens to destroy her home. Mother Earth must undergo a metamorphosis of her own to restore the forest in time for the monarchs to return that winter.

AmaTerra is Critical Mass Dance Company's (CMDC's) new work of blacklight dance theater, which combines blacklight theater with dance, aerial and circus/flow arts to ignite the imagination, uplift the spirit and inspire social change. Sierra Club supports AmaTerra and its important message. Buy tickets and use the promo code SIERRACLUB for a 20% discount. Purchase tickets here.
