Attention Sierra Club-Angeles Chapter VolunteersThis year’s Volunteer Training Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Eaton Canyon Nature Center, 1750 N. Altadena Drive, Pasadena, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Organized by Garen Yegparian, this yearly event is the ideal training ground for new entity chairs, as well as current and prospective volunteers throughout the organization. Angeles Chapter personnel will be there to answer any questions and help you learn the ropes, so to speak. This is great way to get your entity management board members trained and up to speed. The day will begin with registration and a continental breakfast at 8:00 am. Mike Sappingfield, ExComm chair will welcome attendees, followed by several pre-workshop presentations. Lunch is also included in the day’s activities. Individual workshops will begin at 10:00 am and again after lunch at 1:00 pm. Included are sessions for Membership, Outings, Conservation and Publicity Chairs, Treasurers, Newsletter Editors and Webmasters. Other topics will cover Fundraising, Leadership Skills, Effective Local Political Relations, Navigating the Sierra Club, and how Chairs can make their meetings sizzle! Don’t miss this opportunity to hone your volunteer skills, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or newly elected/appointed to a position within your Group, Section or Committee. Space is limited -reserve as soon as possible. Contact Registrar, Mary Morales, (949) 586-9528, for information and to reserve a spot. Eaton Canyon has ample parking, however carpooling with friends and associates is always encouraged. By Mary Morales |
