12 members nominated for seats on Chapter Executive Committee

The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the nomination of 12 members of the Angeles Chapter as candidates for five two-year terms and two one-year at-large seats on the 2006 Executive Committee.

This year’s nominees are: Dean Wallraff, Joe Young, Donna Specht, Armando Soto Mayor, Virgil Shields, Kent Schwitkis, Jay Matchett, Lyn Klein, Jan Kidwell, Hersh Kelley, John Fries, and Silvia Darie.

Interested Angeles Chapter members, in addition to those nominated by the Nominating Committee, who desire to become candidates may do so by submitting a petition signed by 80 current Chapter members (5 percent of the number who voted in the last year’s election). Petitions must be submitted no later than 6pm on Aug. 15. Petition forms are available by mail, FAX or e-mail from George Denny at the Angeles Chapter Office, 213-387-4287.

The November issue of the Southern Sierran will contain member ballots and candidate statements and photographs.

Several regional groups will be sponsoring Candidate Forums in September and October at which Chapter members can meet and speak with the candidates. The dates and locations of these Forums will be published in the September issue of Southern Sierran.
