ROUTE 1
(USFS Adventure Pass required)
- Distance: 13.5 miles round trip on trail and cross-country
- Gain: 4800' total, 2800' out plus 2000' on return
- Time: 8-10 hours round trip
- Rating: Class 1, very strenuous
- Navigation: Moderate

DRIVING ROUTE 1
- From the intersection of I-210 and Angeles Crest Highway, drive north
on Angeles Crest Highway for about 51 miles to a large parking area on the right
side of the road at Vincent Gap. Park here.
HIKING ROUTE 1
- The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) starts at the west end of the parking
lot.
- From the parking lot (6593'), hike up the trail through many switchbacks
to a
junction where the PCT goes to the right.
- Keep left and follow the trail a
short distance up to the summit of Baden-Powell.
- Hike south down the ridge from here through a level area at
about 8300'.
- Continue south down over elevation 7407'.
- Go over another bump and out to
elevation 7402' which is the summit.

- Distance: 14 miles round trip on trail and cross-country
- Gain: 4000' total, 1600' out plus 2400' on return
- Time: 8-10 hours round trip
- Rating: Class 1, very strenuous
- Navigation: Moderate

DRIVING ROUTE 2
- From the intersection of I-210 and Angeles Crest Highway, drive north
on Angeles Crest Highway for about 46 miles to a parking area just past Dawson
Saddle. Park here.
HIKING ROUTE 2
- From the parking area (7920'), cross to the south side of the road to
where trail begins.
- Hike up this trail to where it meets the PCT
just east of Throop Peak.
- Turn left and
follow it east past Mount Burnham about 2 miles
to a junction just below the summit of Baden-Powell.
- Continue from here as in Route 1.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The peak is in the Sheep Mountain Wilderness. At this time, no permit is
required.
HISTORICAL NOTE
The first scheduled climb was June 20, 1964.
