DRIVING ROUTE 3
- Drive to the junction of SR 58 and SR 14 on the north side of the town of Mojave.
- Continue north on SR 58, which curves to the west. Exit at SR 202 (Exit #148) in Tehachapi.
- Head south on SR 202 to Red Apple Ave (signal). Turn right.
- Go 0.8 miles on Red Apple Ave to Westwood Blvd. Turn right.
- Go 1.3 miles on Westwood to Woodford-Tehachapi Road. Turn right.
- Go 3.7 miles to mile marker 6.31. There is a pull-out nearby on the right with parking for about 5 cars.
HIKING ROUTE 3
- Cross the road at mile marker 6.31 to a gully. Cross the drift fence at this gully. Watch for loose barbed wire.
- Walk into and through the gully then head south to a short ridge that runs east-west to the main ridge. The main ridge runs north-south to Black #3.
- Stay generally left and just below the top of the main ridge, aiming for a large finger-like boulder, to avoid brush on the top of the ridge. This boulder is just below the top of bump 5264.
- Go over 5264 to the saddle with bump 5605.
- Traverse bump 5605 following any of numerous cattle trails. Choose paths that give you a fairly level traverse, then climb to the saddle between 5605 and Black #3.
- From the saddle, head for the top, following the ridgeline through occasional brush and boulders.
