Hines Peak

July 1963

By: Siina Melts

Exactly at 7:30 a.m., nine hikers started for Hines Pk. under the leadership of Peggy and Harry McLean. The weather was beautiful and hot. After six hours we reached the top, which was Howland Bailey's 100th. A knee-shaker, knife-edge before the summit made things interesting.

The wildflowers and bushes were at their seasonal best. A big king snake added more color to the landscape, and a black racer demonstrated its racing speed for us.
