If you think Southern California is all shopping malls, freeways and theme parks ... then why don't you take a hike with us!

We are first and foremost a hiking club. WE LOVE TO HIKE. We have hikes for beginners, we have hikes for advanced, experienced hikers, we have hikes for everyone in between. Some of our hikes are easy, some are moderate, and some are very difficult. Most people who go on our hikes find them lots of fun and a great opportunity to meet other fellow hikers. Plus we all get the opportunity to explore our very beautiful mountains.

Besides hiking, we have monthly meetings and our semi-monthly newsletter (called the Lookout). Both the meetings and newsletter are geared toward helping both experienced and beginner hikers hike by providing needed information. Also, at our monthly meetings and in our newsletter, fellow hikers share their adventures as they explore our mountains and obtain our peaks.

HPS: Come Get High With Us!

Our hikes are open to members and non-members alike. However, there are sometimes restrictions to insure that each participant for each outing has the necessary skills to complete the hike.

Anyone can subscribe to our newsletter called The Lookout (it is only $9/year). We highly recommend that hikers new to the HPS become acquainted with us by subscribing to our newsletter. Our newsletter contains listing of all of our upcoming trips including those not listed in the Angeles Chapter Schedule, trip reports, book reviews, restaurant reviews, training information, membership roster, educational and many other articles that will be of interest to our members.

To join the Hundred Peaks Section, members must have climbed 25 of the peaks on the HPS list, be a Sierra Club member, and subscribe to the HPS Lookout. Many of our members first subscribe to the Lookout before they have completed their first 25 peaks and then later upgrade to being a member.

We have an HPS Peak List which contains 275 named summits in the Southern California area from Kern Country south to San Diego. All peaks are at least 5,000 feet in elevation above sea level. All of our peaks can be done as day hikes except for a few that require a backpack.

By selecting on one of the items below you can apply for a subscription to our newsletter and see a listing of our current outings. The outings listing includes our monthly peak baggers social meeting dates, times, and location. We would like to welcome you to our HPS family ... please join us as we hike and explore our wonderful mountain ranges.
