Lace up those shoes or boots and hike with us! There are lots of opportunities to explore the wild country of Southern California.

Historic maps! HPS is over fifty years old. Here is a collection of maps developed by Brent Washburne and digitized by Wolf Leverich showing our routes from the 1990s.

Read our newsletter and join our Section! We have a lot of fun bagging our peaks and we think you would, too.

Our Purposes

  • To encourage our members to explore and enjoy the mountains of Southern California and to become familiar with their scenic resources
  • To stimulate interest in climbing these ranges
  • To preserve their forests, waters, wildlife, and wildernesses
  • To enlist public interest and cooperation in protecting them
  • To foster among our members the purposes of the Sierra Club.
